Minogue was returning to the country 10 years after she performed at Chile’s national stadium in Santiago as part of her KylieX2008 world tour.

This time around her visit was pleasure rather than work as she enjoyed a sunshine break in Chile’s capital, days after the release of her country-music inspired music video to single Dancing.

The global icon was given the full Formula E experience including being taken for a spin around the race track at top speed in the BMW i8 Qualcomm safety car by Formula E founder and CEO Alejandro Agag.

She was also given a tour of the Dragon team garage, meeting both drivers, Argentina’s José María López and Belgian Jérôme d'Ambrosio and spending time with team owner and principle, US media mogul Jay Penske.

Minogue then enjoyed the excitement of Formula E qualifying as French driver Jean-Eric Vergne posted the fastest time to start the Antofagasta Minerals Santiago E-Prix on pole position. She met the Frenchman before taking her seat in the Emotion Club to watch the race, having been greeted by Brazilian Nelson Piquet Jr. and Portugese driver Antonio Felix Da Costa.

She said: "It is nothing short of thrilling, the vibe is incredible. It's my first time at Formula E and I'm hooked. We all love a bit of speed, the adrenaline and the drama but I love that this is the start of something that could become absolutely massive. I feel like I'm getting a glimpse into something in its infancy and seeing people's passion to make this is fabulous. I thought I would like the hot lap but I loved it so much that when I finished I wanted to go again.

Asked if she would be attending a future race, she added: "I've met a lot of the drivers and they all seem really lovely and passionate. I think it's pretty likely."

The singer was welcomed to the city by adoring fans on Friday night as she attended a Formula E gala dinner. She joined Agag and FIA president Jean Todt along with team bosses at the glamourous black-tie event.
