Model and actress Emily Ratajkowski today showed off her ability behind the wheel as she became the first female celebrity to drive the Formula E race car at the ABB FIA Formula E Championship in Berlin.
The Blurred Lines star drove the car, which is capable of speeds of up to 140mph, on the custom-built track at the historic Berlin Tempelhof Airport to follow other celebrities such as Orlando Bloom, Idris Elba and Chris Hemsworth.
The 26-year-old was given the ultimate teacher in former Formula One World Champion Nico Rosberg who passed on tips while she was his passenger in a flying lap in the BMW i8 Qualcomm Safety Car.
And having overcome some nerves taking on the 250-horsepower vehicle, Ratajkowski admitted she found driving the race car the icing on the cake of a great Formula E experience.
“It was an incredible experience – so much fun,” she said. “It was actually easier to drive the car than I thought – I got really nervous before but then it was so much fun. I took it slow to begin with to get the feel but then I really got into it although your really close to the ground which is the strangest part.
“Nico was a great teacher and I learnt a lot which helped me when it came to driving the Formula E car. I would love to do it again.”
